| | News from G. Lufft Mess- und Regeltechnik GmbH | |
| | Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, | |
| | In March we enjoyed the first warmth of spring and the first brave souls already put on their summer tires. Brave souls indeed, because frosty morning temperatures continue to prevail and, depending on the weather, these may give rise to critical road conditions. Road ice warning stations with precision measurement technology from Lufft not only deliver meteorological data for road maintenance services but also control flexible maximum speed signs - for increased road safety, even when drivers are already geared up for the spring. You can find more exciting news on the subject of measurement and control technology "Made by Lufft" in our electronic "Lufft-Post". Enjoy your read! | |
| | Crowds at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2010 | |
| | | The Lufft stand at the world's largest trade fair for transport technology in March was a real magnet: the NIRS31 – Lufft’s "Non-invasive Intelligent Road Sensor" was exhibited for the first time. In addition to the "embedded" versions – i.e. sensors that are embedded in the roadway - Lufft thus has a complete range of sensors for detecting road surface conditions and surface temperature, whether active, passive or non-contact. Visitors to the fair showed great interest in the new sensor. The modular structure and easy integration into a variety of systems aroused the attention of systems manufacturers, in particular. | | Intertraffic Amsterdam |

| | Road ice measurement in combination with variable message signs in Czech Republic | |
| | | Lufft’s representative in the Czech Republic - ChanGroup sro of Sokolov - has been testing a new approach to the installation of Lufft road ice warning systems since 2009: road ice measurement with variable message signs and cameras on road sections to give direct warning to drivers in the event of ice or aquaplaning, which at the same time provide information for winter road maintenance services. Lufft’s road ice information system (Lufft GMA-IS) is mainly used on road sections where slippery conditions, aquaplaning or a quick change in the weather pose a threat. A combination of Lufft GMA with UMB technology-based temperature/humidity sensors, road sensors and camera system independently controls the associated variable message signs and transmits both the data and the current state of the message sign to the road maintenance service central station. In particular, due to their permanent presence, warning signs with "static" symbols receive only moderate attention. Not so "dynamic" warning signs, which are only activated when the corresponding weather conditions are present. | | Control of Variable Message Signs |

| | Signed and sealed for accuracy: internationally recognized calibration (DKD) | |
| | | Even a perfectly manufactured measuring instrument is still, strictly speaking, not yet the finished article. Only as a result of internationally recognized calibration (DKD) may an instrument deliver on its claim to incorruptible reliability. At Lufft, therefore, in addition to manufacturing accuracy, calibration technology is also a fierce tradition. A dedicated website demonstrates in words and images how Lufft does justice to this tradition: www.dkd-lab.info. | | www.dkd-lab.info |

| | VENTUS: Precision under all conditions | |
| | | The VENTUS-UMB ultrasonic wind sensor from Lufft has passed several MIL tests with flying colors: the ice-free test was equally as successful as the corrosion and vibration tests. Currently a series of creative full-page ads are catching the eye in the main international technical wind journals – you can also view these at www.ventus-umb.info | | www.ventus-umb.info |

| | Congratulations to Horst Helmer! | |
| | | Mr. Horst Helmer, Lufft’s long-standing and highly valued business partner, celebrated a landmark birthday in February. Many customers of Horst Helmer & Co. KG process technology at home and abroad have relied on the advice of the refrigeration and air conditioning expert for decades. Not only does the industry value his know-how - thanks to him many museums in Germany today have excellent air conditioning, providing long-term protection for buildings and works of art. We extend our heartiest congratulations to Mr. Helmer. | | Horst Helmer |
